2014: The Birth of the Mayor of Christmas

Since the 2014 party was billed as “Colin and AJ’s” instead of “Without Hazard’s,” we took the above picture to highlight ourselves as ideal hosts. We modeled the picture off of the below still from White Christmas. Our jackets are green because we couldn’t find them in red at Value Village. The top hats are red because we couldn’t find corn-cob hats like the ones Bing and Danny wear.

Since AJ was billed on the invitation for his role in composing and performing the music, we needed a way to get Colin on there too. He was originally going to be billed as the “Master of Ceremonies” or the “MC” until AJ noticed those initials could also work for the “Mayor of Christmas.” And thus, the name was born. The videos arose out of necessity.

We thought that mailing physical invitations would be such an appreciated touch that the RSVPs would come rolling in. We were wrong. We decided we needed some way to promote the party after the invitations went out in order to maximize attendance. Who better to do that than the Mayor of Christmas?
